The strength test of welds (see fig.1) is very important for the industry. In our example, the most stressed areas is demonstrated by the combination of CFD and FEM with a through-flow steam pipelines. Through these insights damage can be avoided and thereby the term of your investment. In Figure 2, the velocity distribution is shown with a steam -flow pipeline.
The CFD results (the pressure and temperature distribution) are determined and transmitted as constraints on the FEM. By using these results of CFD, FEM can calculate the deformations and stresses, espacially in the weldings (see fig. 3).
